Junior Football Championship
Congratulations to the Junior Footballers who won the Eastern Final in a tight game against Ferrybank. Dan “The Goat” Kelly got a crucial goal to level the game, with Ian Galgey and Ian Power chipping in with points for Sion to hold on to get the silverware. Well done to all the lads and managers James Ryan, Michael Frisby, Paul Hammond and Nicholas Mackey. Roll on the County Final!!
John Keane Tournament
Last Saturday the finals of the Annual John Keane Tournament for 7, 8 and 9 year olds were held. Again it was a great success with some tremendous displays from all four teams.
The winners this year were the players on the Ulster team captained by PJ Fanning. The rest of the team was Conor Tierney, Conor Freeman, Daniel Murphy, Stephen Finn, Ryan Kelly, Jamie Gleeson, Aaron Murphy O Connell, Peter Nolan, Adam O Connor, Darragh McGrath, Billy Mc Lawrence, Ben Purcell and Jamie Hutchinson.
The final was a tight game with the Ulster team coming from behind to snatch victory by 2 points from Connaught captained by Scott Hoban. The gallant Connaught team also had great players in Samuel Mathe, Timmy Sobowale, Sean Foley, Adam Flannery, Jake Cawley, Ben Frisby, Jack O Brien, Dylan Butler, Adam Walsh, Josh Hodgers, John Olowosile and Scott Ryan.
The Munster and Leinster Teams contested the Shield Final. Again it was a great final with Munster the winners after a tough game played during one of those heavy showers that were around on Saturday. Munster were victorious at the final whistle. The Munster team was PJ Murphy (Captain) Conor Meaney, Kaelin Wall, Oghusa Osarhieme, Kieran Hanrahan, Craig O Neill, Ben Dunphy-Tynan, PJ Bolger, Brandon Breen, Edward Lambert, Paul Wall and Jack Cashman.
The Leinster team in the Shield Final was Robert Jacob (Captain) josh Fanning, Keith Butler, Ben Ryan, Jack Byrne, Ronan Quinn, Cian O Grady, Jack Sweeney, Sean Doocey, Dylan Browne, Ben Regan, Dean Walsh, Niall Geraghty and Jamie Meaney.
It was great to have many of John’s family present for the presentation of the John Keane cup to PJ Fanning, himself a great grandson of John’s. The presentation was made by another John Keane son of the famous Cnoc Sion Waterford and Munster player.
Condolences
We extend our sympathy to Pat Whelan and his family on the death of Pat’s father Henry who passed away last Wednesday. Ar dheis de go raibh Siad.
Deise Draw
Congratulations to Christy Ryan Snr. who was a winner in September’s Deise Draw. The next Deise draw takes place on 29th October. There are great prizes including a top prize of €10,000. This is the second last draw of the year so if you haven’t already got your tickets please do so by contacting Josie Evans or behind the bar or any member of the fundraising committee. Tickets are €10 each. A special thanks to all who support the draw as it is of great benefit to our club.
Darts & Cards
Have an interest in playing Darts or Cards?? Come along and join in the fun. The Darts takes place every Thursday night with Cards on Friday nights, both starting around 10pm. Great prizes on offer!! Newcomers are always welcome.

During October the following music entertainment takes place at the Club Centre on Saturday nights. All are welcome.
