Mount Sion Gaa Club Notes
Munster Club
We travelled to the home of football in Kerry, Fitzgerald Stadium to face a tough and skilful Keel side in the Munster Junior Football Semi-Final. From the off, the home side set about their task, picking off some incredible points. Sion were under pressure but played some nice football in patches but were out “Footballed” by a much better side. Sion’s first half score came from Richard Roche.
Just after the break, the Keel keeper came to their rescue with a diving save to deny Ian Power from close range. A quick free gave Roche his second point of the afternoon. Michael Frisby followed this up with another point. Sion’s keeper, Ian Sheridan kept his clean sheet intact with a great save. Eoin McGrath stood up to take a free just as the game went into injury time, however his free taking will need to be improved for next season. Keel didn’t leave up the pressure and are very worthy winners. Well done lads on winning the Eastern and County titles and it was a great honour for the club to represent Waterford in Fitzgerald Stadium. Best of luck to Keel in the Munster Final.
