Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Junior Football
Cnoc Sion 1-07
Kill 3-02
Following last week’s victory over Bunmahon the Sion footballers were hoping to keep their unbeaten run in 2016 as they welcomed Kill to the club, in the first half Paul Galgey’s charges proved adept at the probing style of play and driven on by midfield powerhouse Owen Whelan and football specialist Kevin Kelly had plenty of the ball but in the final third they were having trouble hitting the mark, at the other end keeper Brian Hammond was on hand with a diving save to deny the visitors and leave the half time score at 1-01 to 0–2 in Kill’s favour. Kill were fortunate in the second half with two of their attacks producing goals, one from a disputed penalty which put them well in command, but Sion spurred on by the lively Ian Galgey and powerful Robert Bresnan had other ideas and slowly clawed their way back into game to leave just one point in it, as the final whistle neared Sion got a scorable free but to the dismay of the mentors instead of putting it over the bar tried to work it in for the goal but the attack broke down and instead of a well earned draw they were beaten by the solitary point, tough luck lads next game will be posted as soon as the fixture is available.Kelloggs Cul Camps
