Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Junior Hurling County Final
Cnoc Sion 1-15
Kilrossanty 2-12
Having secured the Eastern title a number of weeks ago the Juniors took on Kilrossanty in Leamybrien on Saturday last in the County B Final hoping the end the year on a victorious note, the county men got off to the better start in the cold conditions notching points before Michael Frisby finally got Sion off the mark after a couple of missed opportunities, at times it looked like Kilrossanty’s physicality was treading a fine line but it paid dividends as they netted twice to take the clear lead but two excellent points from either side of the pitch from Eric Hoban and Darren Finn meant Sion went into the break four points down, half time score Kilrossanty 2-05 Cnoc Sion 0-07. Whatever Pappy said in the dressing room at half time worked as Sion tore into the opponents lead keeping them scoreless for the first twenty minutes of the half while points from Frisby, Finn and Pat McGrath put them two points ahead, but made of sterner stuff Kilrossanty pulled themselves back into it pointing three times in a row to go ahead once more, but cometh the hour cometh the man after the impressive Stephen Coady levelled it once more substitute Rickie Freeman latched onto the ball in front of goal and he gratefully buried it to send the sideline into raptures and more importantly put Sion in the driving seat in the closing stages of the match, but in a exciting finish Kilrossanty levelled it with almost the last puck of the game before the ref blew up for the draw, final score Cnoc Sion 1-15 Kilrossanty 2-12 , though Sion might rue this as the one that got away they can look forward to the replay with confidence, details of replay will be posted as soon as they become available.Christmas Day Swim
