Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Best Wishes

It was an end of an era at last year’s AGM as Josie Evans announced that she was retiring as Fundraising Officer and member of the executive committee, Josie has served dilligently on the committee since 1973 in many different roles and more recently as co-ordinator for the Deise Draw, as everyone in the club is well aware the Deise Draw is a major revenue stream for the club and we are one of the top clubs in the county for membership due in no small part to the huge effort put in by Josie, to mark the occasion Chairman Peter Walsh made a presentation to Josie as a small appreciation and wished her well in the future, Josie promises that she’ll still play a major part in the club and will help Kenny Stafford who takes over the role to make sure the transition will be as smooth as possible.

New Darts League

The darts league will start up again in the club in February, following the huge success of the Gary Anderson tournament there is a big interest in darts in the club and hopefully this will be shown in the number of people taking part, the format will be weekly games running over the course of a few months with a finals night later in the year. There will be cash prizes involved and also money going towards the juvenile club, if anyone is interested or wants further information please contact Kenny Stafford.

Condolences

The club wishes to offer Rachel O’Shea and family it’s deepest sympathies on the death of her father Eddie recently , ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

Development Scheme

Just a reminder that the Development Scheme is still up and running and is an ideal way to pay Membership/Deise Draw as well as the Development Scheme, payment is by Standing Order and there are a number of different options available,  please contact Peter by phone or Text at 087 1355359 and he will send on all the details.

Mount Sion Clubhouse

Our club house is the perfect venue for all  your needs, only recently it made it into a list of the ten most unusual places in Ireland to have your wedding ! If you have a family event coming up we can cater for all size parties from small private events to large gatherings, we have a spacious function room with private bar available for hire for all occasions including Birthdays, Christenings, Weddings, Confirmations, Communions, etc, please contact our Bar Manager Michael Ryan for more information on 051-372648 or call up and see him

For a post match drink or chat or to watch the latest sporting event on the big screen we have all the Sports channels available in our spacious bar where on Thursday nights it’s Darts night , on Fridays we have cards which are open to all and there are great prizes on offer, check out our website for more info and photos.
