Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Under 14 Feile
A very young Under 14 team took to the pitch in Gracedieu on Thursday last to play De La Salle in the first round of this year’s Eastern Feile, what our lads may have lacked in stature against a physically bigger team they made up for with effort and a never say die attitude which reaped rewards for them in the night, Sion’s first score of the game came from Davin Marshall coolly collecting the ball and rounding his man to slot past the keeper early on to get the ball rolling for the Monastery men, with Dylan Butler and Lee Flanagan causing all sorts of trouble in the defence the former was rewarded with Sion’s second goal of the half to go into the break well ahead, while the home team rallied in the second half Sion’s defence held firm and though the young legs tired near the end of the game they were well deserved of their 2-05 to 2-03 win which sets them up nicely for the next round against Passage on Thursday.Deise Draw
The first Deise Draw of 2017 takes place this Wednesday May 10th and we would ask our members and supporters to buy tickets if possible, there is a new format for 2017 with 6 draws in total, tickets cost €15 with the 1st prize increasing from €10,000 to €12,500 ,there will also be increases on the other prizes, with the club getting 70% of the ticket price this is a major fundraiser and we would encourage as many members as possible to buy tickets, for any enquiries please contact Kenny Stafford.
