Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Minor Hurling Championship
The Minor Hurling Championship got underway on Friday night last in the club and with the sun shining after the rain of the day Sion got off to the better start playing with the strong breeze and it wasn’t long before a good move down the right saw Sion raising the first tree flag of the game, with strong performances across the pitch Sion were well worth their 1-06 to 0-06 lead at the break, folowing the restart the visitors started to get back into the game until a well taken Evan McGrath penalty put light between the sides once more, though there were squandered chances from both sides with strong leadership throughout the team Sion finished out a nervy final quarter to secure the points on a 2-09 to 0-12 scoreline, next up is a trip to Abbeyside on Wednesday night.Junior Football Championship
The Junior Football Championship continues and the hardy bunch of veterans and youngsters made the short journey to Ferrybank in search of another win to help them through to the knockout stages, though Sion got two goals the hosts had the better of the point scoring and ended up handy winners on a scoreline of 1-18 to 2-04, thanks to everyone who turned up on the night.Under 12’s
The Under 12 squad made their annual trip to Semple Stadium for the 2017 tournament and in the spiritual home of hurling acquitted themselves very well winning all three games against Bruff, Killenaule, and Thurles Og, following the games the lads were brought on a guided tour of the stadium by Tipp star Noel McGrath, thanks to our coaches and mentors who took the time to bring the lads on this great day out.Cul Camps
This year’s Cul Camp took place in the club during the week and with the good weather a great lweek was had by all the boys and girls, thanks to everyone who helped out and to our special guests during the week who helped make it such an enjoyable time for all involved.Ladies Football
