Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Under 16 Hurling

The Under 16’s were away to Ballygunner on Wednesday night and in a game in which they never really got going the home side proved too strong and ran out winners on a 2-17 to 2-05 scoreline, there was a quick turnaround as Naomh Carthage were visitors to the club two days later on Friday night and there was a much better display with the lads getting a over the line against the Lismore outfit, final score Cnoc Sion 3-09 Naomh Carthage 2-05.

Deise Draw

July’s Deise draw took place on Wednesday night and Mount Sion had a €500 winner, congratulations to Ben Sinnott on his win which was the biggest the club has had this year, Ben got his ticket from Kenny Stafford and they can also be got from any club member or from behind the bar.

Junior A Hurling

Good result for the Junior A  hurlers as they defeated Bunmahon in slippery conditions in Carrickbeg on Friday night, final score Cnoc Sion 2-17 Bunmahon 4-20.

Ladies Football

Our Under 15 Ladies footballers made the long journey to Knockanore on Monday night for their first match of the campaign against Shamrocks and while the result didn’t go their way they gained valuable experience which they can put to use in their next game against St Annes.

Camogie

Training for our Under 8s  continues as usual on Monday nights from 6-7 in the Astro turf in the club , get well wishes go out to one of  Under 12 players Rhea Murtagh-Stafford who sustained an horrific injury to her hand last week.

Senior Championship

The details for the next round of the Senior Championship were released this week, Mount Sion will face An Rinn in Fraher Field on Sunday August 12th at 2pm.

Under 14 Hurling V Portlaw/Ballyduff in Portlaw at 6-45pm

Wednesday

Minor Hurling V Abbeyside in Mount Sion at 7-30pm

Friday

Junior B Hurling V St Mollerans in Carrickbeg at 7-30.
