Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Paddy Sheridan Tournament
The past three weeks have seen Mount Sion honour some of our great clubmen over the years, two weeks ago we had the annual John Keane tournament which is run within the club for our younger players to remember the legendary Keane of Mount Sion and Waterford and it is a tribute to the man that his legacy is still carried on in the hurling club, last week the Danny Bowe camogie tournament was a huge success and this week the Paddy Sheridan Under 11 tournament took place, Dicksboro, Glen Rovers and Rapparrees were the visitors and an entertaining feast of hurling was served up with the weather holding up for most of the games, at the presentation ceremony Paddy spoke of how proud he was to be associated with the event, thanks to our visitors and to everyone who helped out on the day to ensure everything went so smoothly.Junior B Hurling
Cnoc Sion 3-15
Erin’s Own 5-14
The Junior B’s returned to action on Sunday last as they took on Erin’s Own in Walsh Park with a place in the Eastern Final at stake, the first half was an even enough affair with Sion just having the advantage at the break, the second half was going Sion’s way and they looked in control with three points to spare before a double hammer blow of two goals in two minutes for the Poleberry men saw them take control of the game going into the closing minutes and their smash and grab was enough to see them out as winners, tough luck to the lads as they narrowly missed out on a final appearance.Circuit Training
As part of our Health and Wellbeing initiative there will be a Circuit class starting in Mount Sion Hall from Tuesday 24th Sept for five weeks, time 7pm -8pm, class is open to all over 18’s , cost €5Minor Hurling
The Minors take on Abbeyside in Abbeyside on Thursday night in the knockout round of the Championship and we wish them the best of luck from everyone in the club.Senior Hurling Championship
The eagerly anticipated Senior Hurling Championship semi final takes place on Sunday next against De La Salle and we wish everyone involved the very best of luck as they strive to reach their first County final in five years.Camogie
Training for all ages Monday 6-7 & Friday 6-7 for the 10-14 group. Congratulations to our Under 6 little ladies who participated in the Gailltír blitz on Saturday 21st. They played fantastic and won both games until it was abandoned due to stormy weather. We had a few new girls join in the past few weeks so it was their first time playing a match, a huge well done to all.
Anyone that has ordered the camogie hats must collect them ASAP please.
