Its all systems go for our Ball 2 Wall challenge taking place over the weekend of June 26th to 28th, our players, young and old, will attempt to hit 250000 balls off walls in the space of the weekend all in aid of the Waterford Marine Search and Rescue, the promo video was released last weekend and keep an eye out on social media for some familiar faces backing the fundraiser ! Donations can be made on the facebook page with all donations going to our friends in WMSAR who do such a great job in the most difficult of conditions.Playground
It was a momentous week for the playground in the club which took another step to being realised this week when work started onsite, this promises to be another link to the local community and Jim Greene and his committee in association with Waterford City Council are to be commended for the hard work over the past five years to bring this project to fruition.GAA Reopening Plan
Mount Sion GAA club are fully compliant with the GAA plan to reopen grounds and we look forward to 29th June when we go into Phase 1 and start to welcome back players, all in strict accordance with the Covid protocols in place.Senior Championship
Also this week it was announced that the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship will start on the weekend of July 31st, after a long couple of months we can now look forward and plan and wish John and his team all the best in what could be a very short season, keep an eye on all the usual outlets for when the games are announced.Deise Draw
The 2020 Deise Draw is now scheduled to start on August 26th and we hope all our members will sign up once more as this year especially the revenue stream for the club will be much needed. We have been also advised that there will still be the standard six draws. Prize money hopefully won’t be affected but may need to slightly adjusted if numbers are a lot lower than last year.Last Man Standing
Last Man Standing returns with the Premier League resumption next weekend, we still have over a hundred players left and the plan is to run it off over the remaining rounds of games, more details to follow during the week.
Development
The Dressing room building revamp is continuing following the break due to Covid, driveway to be tarmacced while the astro turf on the goals of the main pitch are complete.
We would ask those that have not yet paid the annual membership of €150 which includes entry in to the Deise Draw to do so please.
We would ask as many members as possible to join the Development Donation scheme, at this current time our only revenue is the scheme and membership. Anyone wishing to pay membership or join the Donation Scheme please contact any committee member.
My Life Challenge
Thanks to everyone who signed up to the mylife challenge of walking as many steps in order to win €2500 for the club, while there were some initial technical difficulties with the app not registering peoples steps it seems to be up and running now, while we might not be up near the top we have plenty of participants which is good and everyone is getting in their exercise!
