Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior Hurling Championship
Cnoc Sion 2-19
Passage 3-15
The knockout rounds of the Senior championship 2021 got underway last Saturday as the Seniors took on Passage who had progressed through the group stages unbeaten, from early in the half it was clear that it was going to be a close match with both sides taking their chances and when Austin Gleeson cancelled out an early Passage goal Sion looked to be heading into the break ahead before a late Passage goal saw them gain a two point advantage, half time score Cnoc Sion 1-09 Passage 2-08, the second half saw Sion up a gear and they outplayed the opposition with some excellent performances in all areas of the pitch, an Austin Gleeson penalty looked to have sealed it but Passage never gave up and it needed a couple of late points for the monastery men to book their place in the semi final for the second year in a row, the draw was made on Sunday and we were paired against County Champions Ballygunner, game takes place in Walsh Park on Saturday at 4-30pm, best of luck to everyone involved.Scorers Austin Gleeson 2-04, Martin O’Neill 0-09,Stephen Roche 0-03, Owen Whelan 0-02, Luke O’Brien 0-01, Dylan Butler 0-01.

An Aaron English inspired Ulster, unbeaten throughout the tournament up to the final, were heartbreakingly pipped at the post in the last game by a determined onslaught and comeback from Ulster, spearheaded by captain Luke Murphy, Tommy Caulfield and Dylan Tubbritt.

As always thank you to the Keane family who were on hand to help us commemorate the extraordinary life and legacy of their Dad and Grandad, the Unconquerable John Keane.
And finally, a huge thanks to our own Anthony and Sonia of the Wild Willow Cafe who generously sponsored the event, ensuring goodie bags and sliotars for every child.
