Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior Hurling Championship
Cnoc Sion 0-14
Fourmilewater 2-18
The first Senior Hurling Championship game of 2023 took place in St Mollerans on Friday night against Fourmilewater, the men from the Nire Valley were in control from early on in the game raising two green flags in the first half while Sion found it hard to get into gear to cope against a well organised opposition, the second half didn’t see much of an improvement with Sion’s cause not being helped by a number of players sent to the sideline, the game as a contest was well over by the final whistle with Fourmilewater not being flattered by the scoreline, we go again next Saturday against Tallow hoping to reignite our campaign, huge credit to St Mollerans for having the pitch in excellent condition and the well organised running of the match.Minor Hurling Championship
Our Fairway Coaches sponsored Minors took on Ballygunner in the club on Thursday last and the visitors proved too strong on the night inflicting the first defeat of the year after run of good results, the lads are out again on Wednesday against local rivals Roanmore in Cleaboy where they will be hoping to get back to winning ways.
Junior Hurling
There were mixed fortunes for our Junior teams this week as the Junior B’s put up a good performance in Ballygunner only to be edged out by the hosts in McGinn Park, the Junior A’s had a good result in Tramore on Saturday when they edged out Clonea to keep up their good form in this year’s campaign.
