Mount Sion Gaa Notes
Under 12
On Saturday 13th Aug we played in the Lismore Tournament with a depleted squad against Brickies, Lismore & Abbeyside. In our first game we beat Brickies 0-04/0-02 in a very tight game, in the 2nd game we played the hosts Lismore & won on a score-line of 2-09/2-04 in an exciting game where we came from behind to win in impressive style,. In the 3rd game we played Abbeyside in what turned out to be the final where we lost 5-01/2-04, in this game we had some early chances for goals but failed to take advantage of these and these misses proved costly in the end but despite this the lads put on a battling performance and fought to the end which is a feature of this team. Despite missing several of our older players due to holidays the team put in a fantastic effort on the day & the younger players who filled in for them proved themselves more than capable replacements. Well done to all. Thanks to all the parents who travelled to support the team & who gave lifts… it was greatly appreciated. Thanks to Lismore for inviting us to the tournament & for their hospitality in feeding players & parents alike. Panel for the day: Conor Quinn, Jonathan Flynn, Eoghan Browne, Evan McGrath, James Ogundare, Aaron Healy, Eoin Power, Ivan Sinnott, Jordan Halpin, Alan Kirwan, Bill Wall, Charlie Costello, Jack Meaney, Eoghan Power, Luke O’Brien, P.J. Fanning, Josh Fanning, P.J. Murphy and Scott Hoban.
Under 8
Our two Under 8 teams took part in a blitz in Carrignore last Saturday morning. It was great morning where we won 6 games. It was also great to see such encouragement from parents on the sideline. Teams we played included Ballygunner, St. Pats, Clonea, Tramore and St. Marys. Well done to all the little lads and their coaches.Speedy Recovery
We would like to wish both Ross O’Keeffe and John McGrath who were both in the wars over the week. Ross is an established player on our Senior team and suffered a broken arm in a challenge game over the week. John who is one of our Under 8 coaches broke his leg also over the course of the week.
