Mount Sion Gaa Club Notes
Junior Football Championship
Last Saturday saw the Junior Footballers do back to back Eastern championships which now sets up another county final appearance, along with the Junior hurlers in their respective county final. Kilmacthomas provided the opposition for us in the Eastern Final which was held in Fenor. The mid-county side set the early pace to the game with them running into a three point lead with Michael Frisby opening Sion’s account in the twelfth minute. Galgey added a second seconds later and ran in to crash home the only goal of the game in the fifteenth minute. Again Frisby pointed from the placed ball with Stephen Roche also getting his name on the score-sheet. Kilmac responded with a point but again the combined team of Frisby and Galgey pointed to give Sion a five point lead at the break. Playing into breeze in the second half Mount Sion pointed three minutes in with newlywed Michael Frisby getting the score. Kilmac responded but two frees from Galgey and one from Frisby gave Sion a well deserved win. Final score Mount Sion 1-11 to Kilmacthomas 0-7. Well done lads, best of luck in the county final! The Late Colonel Noel O’Dwyer
