The members of the 1981 Munster Club Championship Team will be honoured by Mayor Pat Hayes on Friday 25th November in the City Hall. We were the first Waterford team to capture the title and its befitting that the players are being honoured on its 30th anniversary. The Mayor and Club are extending an invitation to all members of the panel and club officials of the 81’ team to attend the reception in the City Hall. We are restricted in the number of people that can attend in the City Hall. But everyone are more than welcome to join us back in the club afterwards. There wasn’t much to report on games as we weren’t able to enter the local championship as a newly formed club, however we did play a number of challenge games and acquitted ourselves very well in all of them. The election of officers saw one change with Kim Delahunty taking over as Children’s Officer. The election of officers were as follows: Chairman – Seamus Ryan; Vice-Chairperson – Lindsey Grace; Secretary – Tina Gleeson; Treasurer – Peter Walsh; PRO – Owen Sauvage; Registrar – Paul Fanning; Development Officer – Ann-Marie Drohan; and Children’s Officer – Kim Delahunty. Captain and Vice-Captain for 2012 are Joanne King and Orla O’Neill respectively. Best of luck to all involved for 2012!!
Poker League
The Poker League is nearly into the final few Wednesday nights with 4 nights left in all. Registration is at 8:30pm and it starts at 8:45pm. This week Derek English won out the final table with Paul Rockett and Stephen Roche coming second and third respectively. It is certain that Ricky Freeman and Kenny Stafford will hold the top two places for next two weeks. But all other places are to play for with a number of people around the 30 points mark.
The top 8 will automatically qualify for the final table in December. There will also be a one off freeze-out €15 euro game for people who don’t make the top 8 and who have played more than 6 games in the league. The top 2 places will win a ticket to the final table, making a final table of 10. All the weekly league scores and overall leader board are on the website.
