Senior Hurling
Well done to the senior hurlers who are through to the Quarter Final stage of the championship after a 7 point win over Dungarvan in Walsh Park last Sunday. Mount Sion were slow to start and it took 8 minutes before they registered their first point through Owen Whelan. Goals in the first half came from Ian Galgey and Martin O’Neill to give Sion a 2 point cushion at half time. The second half was less dramatic with Sion running out comfortable winners on a score line of 2-18 to 0-17. We have been drawn Ballygunner in the quarter-finals, dates and times TBC.
John Keane Tournament
Next Saturday 18th September see the start of the annual John Keane Tournament in memory of our late great player. This has become a fixture over the last 5 years and the 7 to 9 year old look forward to it each year. If any of our juvenile achieves half of what John did they could be very proud indeed and remembering him each year in this way keeps the present generations in touch with the great times of John’s era. Each team will play 4 games next Saturday with 8 minutes aside. The rules will be based on the Go Games giving each player the chance to play in different positions and take their own frees and sideline balls. On Sat 2nd October the final two games in the league section will be played followed by the Finals. This is another great Club event so come along and support our youngest players and see the talent coming through.

Under 12s
Our under 12 s played the last game in the City League on Friday last. It was a hard fought encounter with De la Salle in very poor weather conditions. The result was a draw but this means that we were undefeated throughout the League and are the City League champions of 2010. Well done to all the boys involved and of course their mentors. These are a plucky bunch of players and although not big in size they have great heart in the Cnoc Sion tradition.
Under 8s & 9s
Last Saturday 11th September both our Under 8 and 9 teams took part in the Annual Charity Roanmore Tournament in Mount Sion. We had two teams from each age group and all four teams played 3 games each and did themselves and the club proud with their display of skill and determination. Well done to all the young lads and their coaches.
