Senior Championship Quarter Finals
The eagerly anticipated Quarter Final clash of Mount Sion and reigning champions Ballygunner finally took place last Sunday. Mount Sion opened the scoring with a well struck free from Ken McGrath. But Ballygunner responded with 2 quick points and as a result of some poor marking, Ballygunner got the only goal of the game. Both sides traded points for the remainder of the half and the teams were level at half time. Ballygunner restarted the half and hit Sion for two quick points, but Ken McGrath kept Sion in touch with a well converted 65. Ballygunner pushed on again with another 3 points but points from Ross O’Keeffe, Christopher Ryan and Ken McGrath (2) kept the sides close. But with 3 minutes remaining Ballygunner finished the game out with 5 points to leave the final score Cnoc Sion 0-14 to Ballygunner 1-17.

Under 13s
Our under 13s played their last game in the City League last Wednesday night against Roanmore. The first half was tightly contested with Mount Sion leading by 1-1 at half time. However playing against a strong breeze in the second half Mount Sion failed to keep the scoreboard ticking over and as a result Roanmore ran out comfortable winners.
Under 16
The Under 16 Footballers played two rounds of the championship over the last two weeks. We failed to win both games against Affane and Ardmore and didn’t qualify for the knock out stages of the competition. This bunch of lads and their mentors have put in a huge effort throughout the year, winning the county hurling and eastern hurling and football titles. Hopefully this group of players progress onto bigger things over the coming years. Well done to all involved!!
