Senior League
A one point win over Fourmilewater kept our undefeated run going in the league with the help of goals from Dermot O’Byrne in the opening half and in the second half by Michael King and Michael Frisby. Fourmilewater opened the scoring with a point from play, Ian Galgey hit back with 4 points who kept Sion in it. Fourmile kept the pressure on and were leading by 4 points before Dermot O’Byrne broke through to finish to the net to leave 1 point between the sides at half time.
The second half was slow to start with both sides registering some bad wides from good scoring positions before Michael King broke the deadlock to level proceedings. A point from substitute Michael Frisby gave Sion the lead before Fourmilewater shot 7 unanswered points in 10 minutes to leave 6 between them. Some great work in the defence by Chris Ryan, Barry Ryan and Pat Kelly steadied the ship and a long ball out of defence fell into the path of Michael King who rounded his man and finished to the net to leave a goal in it. The momentum started to favour Sion and our third goal came in the closing 2 minutes of normal time from the stick of Michael Frisby which bounded off the post and over the line to level the match. A point by the last mentioned and Ian Galgey gave Sion a 2 point lead before the visitors finished the scoring with a point from a free. There were some great displays from Pat Kelly, Chris Ryan, Barry Ryan, Michael King, Dermot O’Byrne and Ian Galgey.
