AGM

The AGM was held on Sunday last in the Club Centre with a good attendance present. Outgoing Treasurer Tom Power gave a good account of the finances for the year and stressed the issue that we must try and keep control of our expenses with the current economic climate. Secretary Seamus Cleere took a different but more valuable approach to the Secretary’s report and must be commended for his efforts. Anthony Kirwan gave a short presentation of the work that has been completed in the past year and suggested developments for the coming couple of years. Sean O’Dwyer spoke of the past twelve months and the huge loss of our Life-President Pat Fanning. Also Juvenile Chairman Peter Walsh talked about the wonderful work that is being done with the under-age children.
The election of officers were as follows: Chairman Séan O’Dwyer; Vice-Chairman Kevin Ryan; Secretary Séamus Cleere; Treasurer Tom Power; PRO Owen Sauvage; Registrar Paul Fanning; Development Officer Anthony Kirwan; Fundraising Josie Evans; Ladies Committee Betty Forristal and Committee members Phil Fanning, Roy McGrath, Pádraig Ó Murchú and James Meaney. Davy Carroll was re-elected as Field Director.
The young player of the year went to Stephen Roche who represented Waterford at minor level and also made his senior debut for the club. The young player of the year award was presented by Jim Greene in memory of his late father Paddy Greene. Senior Player of the Year went to Christopher Ryan for the second year running. His performance as a team player and as an individual was top class. Also Christopher will captain the Senior team for the coming year with Kenneth Stafford acting as vice-captain. The motions sparked some heated debate and Tina Gleeson was elected as Entertainment Officer.
The new club website was unveiled and explained by myself and it will be officially launched in the coming couple of weeks. The new website address is www.mountsiongaa.ie. And I encourage all our members to start using it. The club notes will be updated regularly and there is loads of information and pictures available.
Finally, congratulations to all who received awards and who were elected officers of the club. Also a special thanks to Brian Flannery and Jim Greene for their contribution at executive level and wish them well in the future.

Juvenile AGM

Thursday the 13th January is the day picked for the AGM of the Juvenile section, so we would ask all the existing Juvenile mentors and anyone wishing to get involved with the Juveniles in 2011 to keep that evening free. The meeting will start at 8pm.

Coaching

All coaching and training has now finished. It will start up again in mid January so keep an eye on the Club Notes in the paper for the starting date.

Club Gear

You can now purchase a range of adult and juvenile club gear  including Jerseys, new style hoodys, shorts, socks, shower-proof jackets, tracksuits and gear bags. Please enquire at the bar. If an item you need is out of stock, you can order it by filling out an Order Form also available from the Bar Staff.

Entertainment

During January the following music entertainment takes place at the Club Centre on Saturday nights. All are welcome.
