Mount Sion GAA Club News
Under 21
The eagerly anticipated replay of the Under 21 Football Eastern Final took place last Friday night under lights in Carrick-Beg. It was Sion who opened the scoring with a well taken free from Robert Breslin. Rathgormack responded with 2 points, but it must be said that they shot a lot of wides in the opening half. Michael King had a clear chance on goal but shot over to level the game. Ian Galgey put Sion ahead but moments later Rathgormack were awarded a penalty for an infringement within the small rectangle, which they slotted past Shane Forristal in the goal to lead at half time by 2 points.
Rathgormack exploded into action in the second half taking some very fine scores and ran out deserving winners. Mount Sion’s John Dee scored 3 points in the second half to add to Sion’s half time total. Final score Mount Sion 0-6 to Rathgormack 1-13.
Ladies Football
The ladies got off to a perfect start to their season with a fine win over St. Pauls. The Sion ladies kept their opponents scoreless throughout the whole game. Final score 10-11 to St. Pauls 0-0. Well done to all involved and their next game takes place next Sunday against Kilmacthomas in Mount Sion, Time TBC. Ladies Football training continues on Tuesday nights at 8pm. All new and existing players are welcome to attend.

Ken McGrath
We were all saddened at the news that Ken McGrath, one of best hurlers to come out of Waterford has decided to hang up his boots from inter-county hurling. Ken’s inter-county career spans 15 years and he has won nearly all that there is to win in the game. He has won 3 all stars, 4 Munster and 1 National League in his career and has been a major influence to Waterford’s success. All at Mount Sion would like to wish Ken and his family all the best with his Sports Shop located at Georges Street and of course welcome him back into the club setup.New Arrival
