Mount Sion Gaa Club Notes
Senior Tournament
The Senior’s had their first competitive outing this year in the St. Molleran’s Tournament on Saturday night where we faced Holy Cross Ballycahill of Tipperary. Sion were well under strength with our inter-county players away and others away due to personal reasons, the side that lined out had nine Intermediate players starting. One of those, Gavin Carroll opened Sion’s account within the first minute with Martin F. O’Neill pointing from the placed ball moments later. Holy Cross ran into the lead with four points in quick succession and a superbly taken penalty to rattle the net in the Sion goal and more importantly take a five point lead. O’Neill again clawed a point back with a free but another goal from the Tipp side followed by a point increased their lead. Owen Whelan and Jamie O’Meara (now playing corner forward!), O’Neill and Carroll pointed but Holy Cross finished the half out with a brace of points with John Dee also pointing from a free. Holy Cross led at half time by two goals. After the break the Tipp men goaled again within the first three minutes. Sion responded with O’Neill (2) and Michael Gaffney points. The monastery side grew more into the game with John Dee striking over for his second score and Niall O’Sullivan and a brace from Brian Cusack bridging the gap to three points. But with no time left on the clock and a last gasp point from O’Sullivan and Tipp replying immediately, the game ended. Final score Cnoc Síon 0-16 to Holy Cross 3-11. There is game next Sunday morning. Will let you know further details once they are confirmed via the website.Birthday Wishes

In a very exciting and close encounter both sides could not be separated at full time with the score 2 goals each. The second team played Ballygunner in their first game and one goal each from Adam Walsh and Paul Wall gave Sion a one goal win. In the last game we played near rivals De La Salle. The lads up their game again and ran out very comfortable winners with Sion’s scores coming from Billy McLawrence (2), Adam Walsh (5) and Darragh McGrath (1). The Blue Team were Adam O’Connor, Billy McLawrence, Niall Geraghty, Jim Yaciuk O’Connor, Scott Ryan, Dylan Butler and Ben Regan.
