Mount Sion Gaa Club Notes
Cul Camp
The Kellogg’s Cul Camps took place last week with 5 days of action packed fun for kids between 5-13 years old. Thanks to John Quinn and all the coaches for their great work.Speedy Recovery
We wish 2011’s Young Hurler of the Year, Peter Penkert all the best on his road to recovery after he broke his arm in a challenge game over the weekend. Also we wish Steven Wilmott a speedy recovery after he picked up a knock in last Friday nights Junior Hurling game v Clonea.Junior Hurling Championship
The final round of the championship took place last Friday night in Mount Sion against a very strong Clonea side. The visitors got the better start with a goal after Sion’s full back was caught out of position. Pappy Bowe responded with a point. Clonea returned the favour again and pointed with Lee Thornton raising a white flag. Clonea hit two more points with Thornton showing his accuracy and pointing. Clonea hit the net again and followed up with another point. Ruairi Sheridan found his range and pointed but Sion trailed by two goals at half time.
Sion now had the wind in the second half found themselves another goal down just after the restart. Goalkeeper turn forward Owen Sauvage pointed but Clonea rattled the net once again. Joey Sinnott pointed with Sauvage goaling and pointing once again. Paul Hammond struck a long range free, but Clonea ran in four unanswered points. Pappy Bowe finished the scoring with a point. Final score Cnoc Síon 1-9 to Clonea 4-8. We now face the same opposition in the Semi-Finals in a few weeks time.Robbie Forristal Family Fun Day
The committee for the Robbie Appeal would like to express their gratitude to all those who attended the family fun day at Mount Sion. It was a very enjoyable day, great to see the kids really enjoying themselves. This would not be possible without the help of all the people who volunteered to help on the day. A special thank you to those involved in the catering area where the food and the service was terrific. Well done everybody!
Thanks also to the ladies who took in money for the different events …you did a superb job! We must not forget the Knights of Malta, the fire brigade, Pa Regan who organised the dog show and provided the marquee. Jodie Cusack who, after setting up a mobile photographic studio discovered her system through no fault of her own (a technical problem) could not function. That aside Jodie, your efforts were very much appreciated.A very special attraction was the pony rides rides provided by the Mahony riding school under the excellent supervision of Kate Flynn and her helpers. You could not find a better riding school to enrol your kids!
Thanks must go to Tom Murphy for providing the cars and other assistance behind the scenes. M&D bakery for providing the bla’s, John and Jackie Lee for all their help, Shane Butler for providing the fun racing ponies, our face painters Michelle Murtagh and Ita Green, and last but not least the club chairman Peter Walsh who, along with other club members to numerous to mention, did tremendous work!
Take a bow everybody.
