Mount Sion Gaa Club Notes
Under 21
The Under 21s faced De La Salle in the Eastern Hurling Final last Saturday afternoon in Walsh Park. Our lads started brightly with a Martin F. O’Neill point to open the scoring. De La Salle drew level and went one ahead but Jordan Broaders continued his good run of form with a well taken point. Both sides traded scores with De La Salle hitting the net and edging them in front. Stephen Roche and Austin Gleeson both shot Sion back into the game with De La Salle again keeping their noses in front with another point. O’Neill pulled back a point for Sion but it was the opposition who went in at half one point in the lead.
From the restart it was one way traffic with De La Salle shooting further into the lead with four unanswered points. Gleeson and minor Aiden Power both tried to retrieve the game but again De La Salle pointed. An Evan Curran point followed by a successful Roche pointed free left just four points in the difference. But three late De La Salle points left the game just out of reach with Shane Forristal finding the net from a free as the game came to a close. Unlucky lads. Final score Cnoc Síon 1-12 to De La Salle 1-16.
