Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Under 11s

Our Under 11s took part in the Astro hurling blitz in Carriganore on Friday night last against De La Salle and in a very close match were unlucky to lose by a single goal , next up for these young lads is the next round of this tournament on Friday night and a challenge in the club next Sunday morning against St Sylvesters of Dublin .

Senior Hurling

Our Seniors have their first competitive outing of the season this Friday night in the St Mollerans tournament where they take on Boherlan of Tipperary at 7-45 , this is a straight knock out tournament which has provided some challenging matches for us over the past few years.

Gum Shields

As of January 1st 2014 it is a requirement for all grades of Gaelic Football at all levels that players must wear gum shields at all matches and training , no exceptions ! We have a limited stock available behind the bar at 5 euro for both adults and juveniles and remember No Gum Shield No Game .

Fitzgibbon Cup

Well done to the hurlers of WIT on their brilliant win over CIT in the final on Saturday and especially to our own Stephen Roche who was an integral part of the team .

WLRFM Radio Quiz

The annual WLRfm quiz in aid of Waterford training fund takes place in Nicky’s Bar at 8:30pm on Thursday 6th March. Teams of 4 – 10 euro a head. The quiz  starts at 8.30 and the winning teams will go on to the final in Lawlors Hotel on Tuesday the 11th of March with 4 All Ireland tickets being the first prize .

Juvenile Flag Day

Our Juvenile club will be holding it’s annual Flag days on the weekend of March 7th, 8th and 9th this year , if you can help out in any way on any of the days  please contact Michael Flanagan or Peter Walsh.

Last Man Standing

We’ve lost over half of the original players now at this stage with only a few people left who have’nt lost a life . Check out the updated table on the website.

Membership

The annual subscriptions need to be paid by the end of this month , fees can be paid behind the bar as usual and need to be sent in as soon as possible, all membership rates are available on the membership page on the club website or you can contact Club Registrar Paul Fanning .

Darts & Cards

Darts and Cards for club members. Come along and join in the fun. Darts takes place every Thursday night with Cards on Friday nights, both starting around 10pm. Great prizes on offer!! All Club Members are welcome.
