Mount Sion 2-19
Ballyduff Upper 1-21
The Seniors went into their Sargent Cup match against Ballyduff Upper on Saturday night looking to extend their unbeaten run in this years tournament , after a bright start from Sion the visitors started to get the upper hand and went into the break leading by five points 1-14 to 0-9.Sion got off off to a perfect start after the break when big Damien Hurley raised the green flag with a well taken goal , from then on though Ballyduff were in control for most of the half as they answered Sions scores with points of their own and always kept a cushion of four or five points between the teams , but the lads kept plugging away and were rewarded with a Sean Ryan goal just minutes from time , Ballyduff equalised twice after points from Eoin McGrath and Martin F O Neill looked like they were going to win it for Sion and the game looked to be heading for a draw before Eoin McGrath calmly slotted the ball over the bar to seal the comeback , final score Mount Sion 2-19 Ballyduff Upper 1-21 , good result lads and welcome back to Ian Galgey who returned to action after last years serious injury , there’s a break of five weeks now until the next game against Fourmilewater.
Intermediate Hurling
Mount Sion 2-15
St Mollerans 2-21
The Intermediates faced St Mollerans in round two of the championship last Friday evening in Kill. A poor opening half for the Monastery men saw us fall eleven points behind at half time. In the second half we battled hard with Gavin Carroll and Jordan Broaders both hitting the net to reduce the lead on the Carrick-Beg side. Sion face Clonea in the next round of the championship. We’ll need to improve for this tough test. Final score in Kill, Cnoc Síon 2-15 to St. Mollerans 2-21.
Junior Hurling
Mount Sion 1-16
Ballygunner 2-20
The Juniors played Ballygunner at home on Saturday hoping to build on last weeks win against De La Salle , the visitors with the aid of a strong breeze started off strongly and Stephen Power on the goal was called into action early on to make a fine reflex save , Ballygunner built up a big lead from then and a Pappy Bowe goal and points from Cian O Regan and Kieran O Byrne were all Sion had to show for the first half . In the second half things improved with more points from Bowe and O Regan and veteran Brian Hennessy also bagging a brace but the deficit was too much to pull back and the score line finished up 1-16 to 2-20 , hard luck lads next up is away to Roanmore in Gracedieu on Friday night.
