Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Intermediate Football
Cnoc Sion 1-3
Newtown 0-11
After a long break our Intermediate footballers returned to action on Friday night last to face Newtown in Dunhill. Newtown opened the scoring with a point but the same as last week in the hurling Paul Hammond opened Sion’s account with a well taken point following good work down the left from Jess Kehoe, following this after some good passages of play Eoin McGrath sent the ball into Ian Galgey who made no mistake blasting it into the net announcing his return to action following his long term injury, Newtown followed with more points but the back line of Michael Grant, Jess Kehoe and style icon Pappy Bowe held firm to leave the score at 1-01 to 0-06 at half time . Following the restart Noel Flynn, on for the injured Ian ‘Bomb’ Power, got the point of the game when with his back to goal he kicked the ball over his head to split the posts, next score was a Michael Frisby point and although there were some goal chances later on with the ever dangerous Gallo being the main threat Newtown pulled ahead to finish the game at 0-11 to 1-03 ,next game is on Saturday in Kill against John Mitchell’s at 5-30.Kelloggs Cul Camps
