Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Minor Hurling
Our Minors faced De La Salle last Wednesday in the second round of the Championship. We started this game with an excellent volleyed goal by Cian O’Regan. With a strong breeze at their backs Mount Sion took control of the game, with the backs getting the better of the De La Salle attack, our forwards started to pick off scores with Evan Curran, Mickey Daykin, Eric Hoban and the pick of them from Ben Flanagan. This was followed up with a great run by Daykin, which opened up the defence to leave Cian O’Regan in for his second goal of the game leaving the half time score 2-13 to 1-5.
The second half started with two Evan Curran frees to increase the lead. Then De La Salle found their momentum, though a second goal and points from all around the field. Through these scores De La Salle found themselves in the lead going into the final minute, when Eric Hoban was taken down for a 21 yard free. Hoban took the subsequent free but it was saved and the game ended. Final score Cnoc Síon 2-17 to De La Salle 2-19. Next game is against Dungarvan in Mount Sion on August 12th at 7:30pm.
