Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Under 9s

We had two teams in the annual Under 9 Hurling blitz out in Ballygunner on Saturday morning last, both our teams blue and white played 2 games each against Ballygunner and De La Salle  playing fantastic Hurling in the process winning 2 out of the 4 matches , some notable performances on the day were Evan Flanagan on the goal , Emmanuel Adebayo , Dillon Ryan , Ross Byrne and Alex Walsh .

Blue team – Dylan Ryan, Ross Byrne, Sam Byrne – Russell, Ben Hennessy, Sean Reilly, Mark O Connor,  John Griffin,  Evan Flanagan and Conor Foran.

White team – Jared O Keeffe,  Adam Regan, Jack Kirwan, Alex Walsh, Sean Flynn, Tommy Walsh, Emmanuel Adebayo and Jamie Croke.

Senior Hurling

The draw was made for the 2015 Senior Hurling Championship during the week and Sion were paired with Roanmore, Cappoquin, Passage, Dungarvan and Lismore , the first game is provisionally pencilled in for the weekend of the 3rd May against Roanmore, in the meantime in a fixture left over from 2014 the lads will play the final of the Sargent Cup against Lismore in Lismore on Saturday the 7th of February at 2.30pm, all support welcome for the first game of 2015!

Intermediate Hurling and Football

The groupings for the Intermediate Hurling and Football were also made during the week with Sion drawn in East Intermediate Hurling Championship Group A with St Saviours, Butlerstown, Portlaw, Clonea and Dunhill,  in Intermediate Football Group A we were drawn with Portlaw, Kilmacthomas, Newtown and Bonmahon, dates and venues to be arranged at a later date.

Well Done!

Well done to Kitty Fanning on her bit of luck in winning five thousand euro on the Saturday Night Show the other night !

Birthday Greetings

Belated birthday greetings to our Vice Chairman Kevin “Skin” Ryan who turned the big Five O on Monday last !

Last Man Standing

Last Man Standing returned this week and there were not many surprises with most of the big teams winning, check out the updated page on the website and don’t forget to have your team in with Tina on 087 9479741 on or before Thursday .
