Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

National Hurling League

Congratulations to the Waterford senior hurlers on their great National League win against Cork on Sunday to record only their third ever league title, well done to our lads involved and here’s looking forward to a long summer of hurling ahead!

Under 11’s

The Under 11’s played their fourth match in the City League on Friday last against Tramore in Tramore and bounced back with a very good win against the Seasiders to make it three wins out of four, well done to the lads, panel on the night was Evan Mackey, Cormac Dunphy ,Davin Marshall, Dylan Ryan, Jamie Meaney, Lee Flanagan, Hugh Flanagan, Conor Walsh, Adam Deegan,  Jake Marks,Scott Ryan, Jack Cowman, Paul Keane, Daniel Butler and Robbie Kelly.

Anniversary Mass

The first anniversary mass for our much missed former Life President Dick Roche takes place on May 12th in the Holy Family Church at 11am, all are welcome to attend.

Senior Championship

The 2015 Senior Championship is finally upon us as the lads take on newly promoted Cappoquin on Sunday May 10th in Fraher Field at 3.30pm, a lot of hard work and training has gone into preparing for these games and all involved in the club wish Ken and his team all the very best of luck.

Golf Classic

The Mount Sion Golf Classic takes place on Friday May 29th with tee off from 9.30am in Waterford Golf Club, so spread the word if you play golf or if you know any budding Rory McIllroys who can get three players to make up a team on the day, cost is very reasonable at 90 euros a team with a meal, please see the poster for more details.

School Astroturf

Just a quick reminder that support is still needed for the primary school playground astro surface. Buy a square meter for €50. Donate at the Bar. A Receipt will be issued with a certificate to follow. This Astro surface will give School and Club a welcome lift and help keep the club school connection alive and growing. Of course any other contribution small or large is also most welcome, contact Club Chairman Peter Walsh for more info.

Deise Draw

The 2015 Deise Draw is up and running and we’re still waiting on our first winners .Tickets cost €10 a month with the club keeping 70% of the tickets sold. I.e. €7 a ticket.This year we are delighted to announce that Elverys Sports are the Offical Retail Partner to Waterford GAA. A 15% Discount Voucher will be available, on request through the club, to all members of the Déise Draw. Please leave money and names at bar or contact draw co-ordinator Josie Evans if you’d like to support our biggest yearly fundraiser.

Under 14 Feile v Ring in Mount Sion on Tuesday May 5th at 6.45pm.

Under 12 City League V Passage in Passage on Friday May 8th at 6.30pm

Senior Championship V Cappoquin in Fraher Field on Sunday May 10th at 3.30pm.

Our club house is the perfect venue for your needs, if you have a family event coming up we can cater for all size parties from small private events to large gatherings, we have a spacious function room with private bar available for hire for all occasions including Birthdays, Christenings, Weddings, Confirmations, Communions, etc, please contact our Bar Manager Michael Ryan for more information on 051-372648 or call up and see him

For a post match drink or chat or to watch the latest sporting event on the big screen we have all the Sports channels available in our spacious bar where on Thursday nights it’s Darts night and on Fridays we have cards which are open to all and there are great prizes on offer, check out our website for more info and photos.
