Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Under 14 Hurling
In conditions more like November the Under 14’s were back in action against De La Salle in Gracedieu on Monday night last, Sion made the most of the breeze in the first half going into the break 2-04 to 0-02 ahead with young Dylan Butler in the forwards impressing. After the break the midfield and backs controlled the game under pressure from De La Salle and closed out the game raising the green flag three more times finishing on a scoreline of 5-07 to 2-04, well done lads on a great team performance in difficult conditions.Junior Hurling
The Juniors faced Passage in Walsh Park on Friday night knowing that only a win and other results going their way would do if they were to continue on to the knockout stages, Sion started well getting two points in quick reply before Passage got into their stride and took control of the game quickly racking up the scores before a fortunate goal put them well into the lead at the break. The second half was much the same story with Sion getting two goals from Aidan Power and Darren Grey but the men from out the County finished strongly with some more goals that ended the game as a contest and Sion’s participation in this year’s championship, tough luck lads it was just a pity that the momentum from the earlier games couldn’t have carried on to the later stages.
Deise Draw
July’s Deise Draw took place on Friday night last in Kilgobnet, unfortunately we had no winners on the night. Tickets cost €10 a month with the club keeping 70% of the tickets sold. I.e. €7 a ticket. This year we are delighted to announce that Elverys Sports are the Offical Retail Partner to Waterford GAA. A 15% Discount Voucher will be available, on request through the club, to all members of the Déise Draw. Please leave money and names at bar or contact draw co-ordinator Josie Evans if you’d like to support our biggest yearly fundraiser.Tesco Tokens
Good news on the fundraising front, thanks to Roisin Regan Mount Sion have been entered in Tesco’s draw in their stores where people are given a blue token with every shop and they put that token in the box. If Mount Sion gets the most blue tokens they get the biggest cash amount, second place gets second cash prize and third gets third place cash prize etc. This promotion is running in Tesco Lisduggan at Waterford Shopping centre starting this Monday 3rd August and running for six weeks, so tell all your family and friends and spread the word that just by putting the token in the Mount Sion box they are helping the club! Thanks once again to Roisin for entering us in the draw. All Ireland Semi Final
