Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

All Ireland Semi Final

The journey is over for the Waterford Seniors as they bowed out to  Kilkenny in the semi final stage in Croke Park on Sunday , despite a spirited display the Deise were outgunned on the second half by the All Ireland Champions, tough luck to all involved and no doubt the Deise will learn from this year and come back stronger and better for 2016.

Minor Hurling

The Minors made the long journey to Colligan on Wednesday last hoping for their  first win of the campaign, in atrocious conditions not suited to hurling they lost to St Patrick’s by four points to deny them that elusive first victory , the games are coming thick and fast with local rivals Roanmore the next opponents in the club on Tuesday night at 7.

 

Under 12’s

The Under 12’s took the trip to Tipp on Tursday  last to take part in a tournament organised by the Munster GAA in the home of hurling Semple Stadium, the boys excelled themselves on the hallowed turf winning all four of their games against Cork and Tipp opponents, following their games the team and mentors wee given a tour of the famous old stadium which they all thoroughly enjoyed ,

 

 

Under 16

The Under 16s have been ticking away nicely over their last few games and were hoping to carry that form into their meeting with Ballygunner on Saturday evening last, driven on by a strong performance from the full back line and Evan McGrath in dazzling form in the forwards the lads ran out five point winners on a score line of 1-13 to 0-11 points, well done on a great team performance all round .

Deise Draw

July’s Deise Draw took place on Friday night last in Kilgobnet, unfortunately we had no winners on the night. Tickets cost €10 a month with the club keeping 70% of the tickets sold. I.e. €7 a ticket.This year we are delighted to announce that Elverys Sports are the Offical Retail Partner to Waterford GAA. A 15% Discount Voucher will be available, on request through the club, to all members of the Déise Draw. Please leave money and names at bar or contact draw co-ordinator Josie Evans if you’d like to support our biggest yearly fundraiser.

Tesco Tokens

Good news on the fundraising front, thanks to Roisin Regan Mount Sion have been entered in Tesco’s draw in their stores where people are given a blue token with every shop and they put that token in the box. If Mount Sion gets the most blue tokens they get the biggest cash amount, second place gets second cash prize and third gets third place cash prize etc. This promotion is running in Tesco Lisduggan at Waterford Shopping centre and started Monday 3rd August and runs for six weeks, so tell all your family and friends and spread the word that just by putting the token in the Mount Sion box they are helping the club! Thanks once again to Roisin for entering us in the draw.
