Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Senior Championship

Saturday saw the Seniors take on Ballygunner in the Quarter Final of the Championship in Walsh Park, Ballygunner were first out of the blocks getting scores before Sion finally found their range and replied with points coming from Austin Gleeson, Bill Walsh and free taker Martin F O Neill  before the men in red and black dealt a hammer blow to Sion’s chances getting the first goal of the game to put a four point gap between the teams at half time 1-08 to 0-11. Sion were chasing the game in the second half and though they scored five points the talking point will be the amount of wides and missed chances which helped give the County Champions the edge and along with a last minute goal Sion’s fate was sealed , final score Cnoc Sion 0-12 Ballygunner 2-12 .

Under 14 

The Under 14s have been going well of late and last Tuesday saw them play their much delayed quarter final against Clonea, the lads put in a fine display winning 2-11 to 1-05, this result set up a semi final on Monday 21st against De La Salle, details in next week’s notes.

School Fundraiser

 “End of Summer Night Out” takes place in the Mount Sion centre on Friday 25th September in aid of the Mount Sion CBS Secondary School Yard Project. On the night there will be musical entertainment from Bag O’ Spuds, Viva Las Vegas (Elvis Tribute) and Paddy’s Pride! Tickets are just €5 and there will be a raffle on the night. All money raised goes towards the Yard Project, tickets can be bought from behind the bar. This promises to be an excellent night out and all for a great cause !

Clothes Recycling

 We are holding a Clothes Recycling Fundraiser for our Juvenile Club. We would be most grateful for your support. Items can be given to any of the Coaches at training or handed in to the staff at our Clubhouse, anytime between now and Wednesday 7^th October 2015. The list of accepted items is below, along with a list of items not suitable. The Clubhouse phone number is 051 372648.

Last Man Standing returned last week, the website should be updated with the results during the week .

Deise Draw

September’s Deise Draw takes place on Friday night, if you pay monthly could you please leave your money behind the bar or contact Josie. Tickets cost €10 a month with the club keeping 70% of the tickets sold. I.e. €7 a ticket.This year we are delighted to announce that Elverys Sports are the Offical Retail Partner to Waterford GAA. A 15% Discount Voucher will be available, on request through the club, to all members of the Déise Draw. Please leave money and names at bar or contact draw co-ordinator Josie Evans if you’d like to support our biggest yearly fundraiser.
