Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Juvenile Hurling
It’s been a busy week in the Juvenile club with the Under 11’s playing two games in the City League, on Monday they made the short trip to Gracedieu where they took on De La Salle, in a hard fought game the boys came out victors on a scoreline of 2-5 to 1-1, on Friday night Roanmore were the visitors but they were no match for Sion who ran out easy winners on a scoreline of 4-6 to 1-0. This was a very busy week for these young players as they also played school hurling and the commitment from themselves, their families and their coaches is to be commended, the Under 9 blitzes continue and on Saturday they played Ballygunner and Ferrybank with great displays in both games, this week the Under 12’s take centre stage when they take on De La Salle and Roanmore in the City League, see the fixtures tab for details.Primary School Hurling
The Primary school Mini 7’s just came up short in the Eastern Final in Walsh Park on Wednesday last. A very young team narrowly losing their decisive game to Ballygunner 1-02 to 0-3, along the way they had superb victories over Glór na Mara, Clonea and Portlaw. Panel – Hugh Flanagan, Jake Marks, Dylan Ryan, Dylan Brown, Jack Barrett, Jefferson Edugon, Evan Mackey, Darragh McGrath, Emmanuel Adebayo, Lee Flanagan, Davin Marshall and Jared O’Keeffe. Well done to all! Wednesday next sees the grand finals of the school’s hugely successful Wednesday League for second and third class boys. The boys will play for the inaugural Pat Fanning Shield and Cup. At 6pm Connacht will play Ulster in the Grand Shield Final immediately followed by the Pat Fanning Cup Final where Munster will do battle with Leinster. Although school is off the finals go ahead on Wednesday and it would be great if as many as possible could be there to support the fledgling hurlers!National Hurling League
They have to do it all again! After Sunday’s nail biting drawn game in Thurles the Waterford Senior Hurlers take on Clare again on Sunday next at the same venue with throw in at 3.30pm, best of luck once more to all involved, unfortunately this means that the first round game of the County Championship against Cappoquin will now have to be re-schedued to a later date.Golf Classic
