Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Golf Classic
The Auto Boland sponsored Golf Classic took place in Waterford Golf Club in glorious sunshine on Friday last, 24 teams competed and it was close right up to the end but it was the team of Martin F. O’Neill, Ross O’Keeffe and Richard Roche who put in a storming finish to claim top prize, we would would like to thank all our sponsors on the day especially Auto Boland who had some amazing cars on display as the players went round the course, all proceeds go to the Juvenile club and special thanks to our organisers, a full list of results will be posted on the website soon.Munster Championship
It was another great day in Thurles on Sunday as the Waterford Seniors booked their place in the Munster Final with a resounding victory over Clare and in the process getting revenge for the League Final defeat, well done to all involved and best wishes in the final in July.Senior League
Cnoc Sion 2-22
Ballygunner 2-14
The Seniors got their first win of the Sargent Cup/Senior League in the club on Saturday last against Ballygunner, the result was never in doubt as Sion were in control throughout the game and with goals in both halves from Richard and Stephen Roche and points coming from all areas of the pitch it was a good runout before next week’s Championship game against Roanmore in Walsh Park.Juvenile Hurling
The Under 14’s got their County Championship off to a winning start in the club on Monday last with a comprehensive win against Portlaw/Ballyduff, all the hard work the lads are putting in with this team is starting to pay off and with the Feile just around the corner things are motoring along nicely, elsewhere the Under 12’s travelled to Mullinavat on Friday night and were unlucky to be beaten by a single point in a closely fought game.Unsung Hero
Congratulations to Owen Sauvage who was the overall winner in the Unsung Hero promotion on Deise AM last week, in the process Savo won €100 for himself and €500 for the club, anyone who knows Owen will testify to the amount of work he puts in for both club and county and this award is richly deserved.Pictured is Owen and fiancee Amy who nominated him.Bon Voyage
Best wishes to Stephen “Scratchy ” Wilmott as he travels to America to work for the summer months , Stephen is another great clubman who puts in a huge effort training our underage teams and will be sorely missed for the time he’s gone.Fixtures
