Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior League
Cnoc Sion 0-18
Ballyduff Upper 1-15
Just a week away from the first Championship outing of 2017 Sion took on Ballyduff Upper in Pairc O’Fainin in the Senior league on Saturday night last, fielding a strong starting fifteen Sion had the better start with John Kennedy looking lively down the right contributing with the first two points before his involvement in the game ended prematurely when he saw red after a rash challenge, faced with an uphill battle after losing a man so early in the game Sion stepped up the pace and with Stephen Roche pulling the strings in midfield were the better team in the half which nearly ended with a goal when Richard Roche skilfully caught the ball and rounded his man only to see his shot just go wide of the post.Half time score Cnoc Sion 0-11 Ballyduff Upper 0-07. Sion were once again the dominant side after the break and could have recorded more scores as chance after chance went wide leaving the crowd to wonder if those misses would have a bearing on the final result, with Sion five points ahead and looking comfortable for the win a mix up in the defence let Ballyduff in to get the first goal of the game, the visitors were finally roused from their slumbers and tacked on three more points to go ahead with time running out for Sion, just as it looked like a victory for the county men Stephen Roche pointed with virtually the last puck of the game to leave the game even at full time , final score Cnoc Sion 0-18 Ballyduff Upper 1-15 Team Ian O’Regan, Mark Hoban, Aaron Coady, Stephen O’Neill(Ben Flanagan), John Dee, Peter Penkert, Donal Power, Owen Whelan, Aaron Dempsey, Mikey Daykin 0-01, Stephen Roche 0-09, Martin F O’Neill 0-02 (Ross O’Keeffe 0-02), John Kennedy 0-02, Richard Roche(Evan McGrath), Jordan Broaders 0-02.Engagement
