Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Ballyduff Tournament
Our Under 10 hurlers have been taking part in the Ballyduff Upper tournament over the last two weekends hoping to secure a first win in this prestigious competition, following victories the previous week over Youghal and Holycross they progressed to the semi final stage on Saturday last where they faced St. Carthage’s, in aclose fought game Sion fought off the Lismore men to win by a four point margin and set up a final spot against De La Salle, in a tight game Sion finally got the better of their locals rivals to win their first ever Ballyduff tournament, well done to all our young lads on this fantastic achievement and to their coaches and families for all their help and support.Junior Football
Our Junior footballers were out for their second game of the campaign against Erin’s Own in Poleberry with a few changes from the previous game, like Liverpool the following night Sion conceded three goals but Nicky Mackey is no Karius and arguably his kickouts were the high point of the game distributing to all areas of the pitch, Sion looked to have wrapped up the game when Donal Power pointed just at the death but the home side equalised on the stroke of full time to make it honours even, final score Erin’s Own 3-05 Cnoc Sion 2-08.Camogie
Our Under 8 girls were out on Saturday morning taking part in another local blitz, against two strong teams in Gaultier and Butlerstown the girls played very well making their coaches very proud, team was Tess Roberts, Annabelle Keyes, Alana Robinson, Beth Ryan, Emily Power, Hannah Cadogan, Sarah O’Farrell, Zara O’Byrne, Lily May Browne and Aine Flynn.Ladies Football
Our Ladies footballers were bag packing in Tesco Lisduggan on Saturday last and the girls would like to thank Tesco and everyone who contributed to help raise funds or new gear for the coming season, training continues on Friday nights from 6-30 to 7-30 for girls 13 and over and new players are always welcome.Ska Night
