Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior Championship
Cnoc Sion 0-21
An Rinn 2-13
The Senior Championship resumed on Sunday last against An Rinn in Fraher Field with a place in the quarter finals up for grabs in this play off game, the first half was an even affair with both sides exchanging points and neither getting the upper hand, Austin Gleeson’s accuracy from frees was the main reason the sides went into the break at 0-08 apiece with six of them coming from the captain’s hurl, the second half saw a more determined performance with more players stepping up to the mark with Sion going five points ahead at one stage and looking ready to book their place in the next round, the Gaeltacht men though had other plans and two goals, one at the death, brought them within a point of draw and extra time before Gleeson once more put over from the sideline to bring back the two point margin, the final whistle came as a relief after the late comeback and Sion will need to be extra careful in the next game to ensure the same doesn’t happen, final score Cnoc Sion 0-21 An Rinn 2-13, scorers for Cnoc Sion Austin Gleeson 0-13, Jack Meaney 0-03, John Kennedy 0-01, Owen Whelan 0-01, Stephen Roche 0-01, Donal Power 0-01, Evan McGrath 0-01.Under 10’s
The Under 10’s were once more on their travels travels on Saturday last when they made the trip to the famous Glen Rovers for their tournament, at the group satges they beat both Durlas Og and James Stepens to book their place in the final against the hosts who won out marginally in a great game of hurling, well done to all the boys and their mentors on another great performance representing their club.Junior B Hurling
