Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Under 11 City League

Our Under 11’s got their City League off to a great start on Friday night last when they beat De La Salle in Gracedieu wearing their new Jk Construction sponsored jerseys, well done to all involved and to an enthuastic Kieran Flynn who was delighted to get in the team photo!

Deise Draw

The Deise draw for 2019 commences this Wednesday April 24th and continue the last Wednesday of every month for six months. Tickets as normal are €15 per month or €90 for the year. Fully paid up members will automatically get a ticket for all draws. We would encourage where possible that members also try to sell one ticket as this is a huge source of fundraising for the club. Benefit Night

A benefit night for Pa O’Brien, a very popular musician around the town and former Mount Sion player, will take place in the club this Friday April 26th, please see the poster for details for what looks like a great night to help Pa as he recovers from his recent ill health.

Under 14 Feile

The Under 14 Feile was hosted by the club on Thursday night, in a round robin format Sion first played Ferrybank followed by Portlaw/Ballyduff in the last game, with some impressive displays Sion were the clear cut winners in both games, this means the lads have now progressed to the County final which is also being played as a three way blitz on Thursday next against Naomh Brid and Fourmilewater, well done to all involved and to everyone who turned up on the night to lend their support.

Stewards

Waterford GAA are looking for match day stewards for the two upcoming Munster Championship games in Walsh Park. The onus is on us as a county and clubs to provide a large number of voluntary stewards in order that the event is run in a proper and efficient manner. All stewards must complete a certified training course which will be run next Saturday 27th April in Lawlor’s Hotel Dungarvan from 9:30am-3:30pm. The course is being run by Europlan and all stewards will be trained and certified on the day. Applicants must be over 18 years of age. Please text the County Development Officer Emer Barry on 087-9506613, with name and contact number prior to 12 noon on Monday next (tomorrow) 22nd April as numbers are required for course co-ordinators. (Anyone who has not completed the training course and recieved a certificate will NOT be able to act as a steward on matchdays).

Camogie

No camogie training for all ages tomorrow (Bank Holiday Monday)
Our Under 14’s suffered a heavy defeat to Ballyduff Upper on Thursday night in the club and will be looking to pick themselves up again this week when they travel west to take on Ring in Ring this Thursday best of luck to the girls.
The Under 8’s & 10’s have another blitz this Saturday 27th at 11am with venue yet to be confirmed, coaches will be in contact during the week.

Health & Wellbeing

Yoga continues this Thursday as part of our heath and well being programme, class is open to all and goes from 7.15 to 8.15pm.
This is a donation-based class taken by fully qualified instructor Jess Rowell, bring your own mats if possible.

Last Man Standing

This was a big week in our Last Man Standing as Bournemouth and Wolves recent good form came to an end ending the hopes of nearly half our players and the less said about Arsenal the better ! Check out the updated page on the website as to see who’s left, don’t forget to get your team into Owen Sauvage before Thursday.

Mount Sion Clubhouse

Our club house is the perfect venue for all your needs.
