Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Junior A Hurling
Cnoc Sion 4-15
Dunhill 0-06
The Junior A Hurlers showed no signs that the long layoff had affected them as they put in a clinical performance to see off Dunhill in Fenor on Friday night, with reliable performances all around the pitch from both seasoned players and newcomers to the squad they were in control of the game throughout, they return to the same venue this Friday when they take on Tramore with confidence high from this result.Junior B Hurling
Cnoc Sion 1-19
Naomh Pol 3-12
The Junior B Hurlers had to dig deep on Saturday night against a dogged Naomh Pol in the club, a tight contest with no quarter given on either side could have gone either way until the final few minutes when Sion’s superior point scoring and experience got them just over the line by the minimum score, next game up is another tough encounter at Mollerans on Thursday night.Under 15 Hurling
Cnoc Sion 3-13
Ballygunner 0-11
A great result for our Under 15’s who took away the points from McGinn Park on Friday night last, well don e to all involved and to the coaching team who have done great work with them in the short time they’ve been able to train, the lads are back in action in the club on Wednesday and a good support (in line with regulations) would be most welcome.Get Well Soon
Best wishes go out to Senior Hurler Evan Curran who sustained a season ending injury in training the other night, Evan has been an integral part of the Senior set up for the past few years and he will be badly missed on the pitch for this year’s Championship, all Evan’s teammates and everyone in the club wish him a speedy recovery.Last Man Standing
And then there were two! From four hundred starting in February we are down to our final two players, Chris Gormley and John Prendergast are now in a shoot out for the last two games of the Premier League season, best wishes to them both with their picks this week.Senior Championship
With the government postponing Phase four of their Covid plan at present there will only be 200 people including teams and mentors allowed into Walsh Park next Sunday, there are plans for the game to be streamed for those unable to attend, keep an eye on the usual social media outlets during the week for updates.Fixtures

Deise Draw
The 2020 Deise Draw is now scheduled to start on August 26th and we hope all our members will sign up once more as this year especially the revenue stream for the club will be much needed. We have been also advised that there will still be the standard six draws. Prize money hopefully won’t be affected but may need to slightly adjusted if numbers are a lot lower than last year.Development
The Dressing room building revamp is continuing following the break due to Covid, driveway to be tarmacced while the astro turf on the goals of the main pitch are complete. We would ask those that have not yet paid the annual membership of €150 which includes entry in to the Deise Draw to do so please.
We would ask as many members as possible to join the Development Donation scheme, at this current time our only revenue is the scheme and membership. Anyone wishing to pay membership or join the Donation Scheme please contact any committee member.
