Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior Hurling Championship
Cnoc Sion 0-17
Roanmore 2-21
The final group game of this years Championship took place in perfect conditions in Walsh Park on Sunday last with near neighbours Roanmore once more providing the opposition, the game exploded into life in the second minute with the sending off of Austin Gleeson for what appeared to be a shoulder and the course of the game was decided at that moment, Roanmore seized their opportunity and made the most of their advantage by going ahead by seven points at one stage, but Sion with the help of seven points from Martin O’Neill clawed their way back into the game to be only a point behind at the break, half time score Cnoc Sion 0-12 Roanmore 1-10, the fourteen men in the second half tried their utmost in the conditions but were unable to get back into the game with Roanmore running out winners by a comfortable margin the end, final score Cnoc Sion 0-17 Roanmore 2-21, a disappointing end to the group stages but following the final game on Sunday the draw was made for the quarter finals and we have been paired against another local rival De La Salle next weekend.
Results
Another good week for both Junior teams as they won their first games of the knockout stages, the Junior B’s looked to be on their way before a last gasp free from Erin’s Own brought their quarter final to extra time on Thursday, Sion’s experience shone through with Michael Frisby and Conor Quinn scoring 1-04 a piece from play but Man of the match had to be Gavin Carroll with a score of 0-12 helping to put them through to the semi finals, final score Cnoc Sion 2-27 Erin’s Own 2-14, the Junior A’s took on Ballydurn on Friday night in Kill hoping to get the upper hand after two successive defeats at the final stages at this level, two points down at half time saw them with an uphill challenge but an excellent second half performance was enough give them a three point victory and banish the disappointment of the past two years, final score Cnoc Sion 0-16 Ballydurn 0-13, the Minors had an excellent one point win in Tramore on Wednesday following it up with another win against Clan Na Gael in the club on Sunday morning Cnoc Sion 1-17 Michael MacCraith 2-13 , Cnoc Sion 6-11 Clan Na Gael 0-14, the minors now qualify to play Portlaw/Ballyduff this week, another notable result was in the Under 12 City League where our Under 12’s had a brilliant two point win over Ballygunner , Cnoc Sion 4-13 Ballygunner 4-11, well done to all involved in our games during the week.Fixtures

A much improved performance in the club on Wednesday saw the girls notch a number of points against a good Ballysaggart side, though they didn’t win Colin and Biff will be happy with the commitment all round the pitch, next game is against the same opposition in a couple of weeks time.Deise Draw
The 2020 Deise Draw is now scheduled to start on August 26th and we hope all our members will sign up once more as this year especially the revenue stream for the club will be much needed. We have been also advised that there will still be the standard six draws. Prize money hopefully won’t be affected but may need to slightly adjusted if numbers are a lot lower than last year.Development
We would ask those that have not yet paid the annual membership of €150 which includes entry in to the Deise Draw to do so please. We would ask as many members as possible to join the Development Donation scheme, at this current time our only revenue is the scheme and membership. Anyone wishing to pay membership or join the Donation Scheme please contact any committee member.
