Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior Hurling Championship
Cnoc Sion 0-19Abbeyside 3-20
The Seniors took on Abbeyside in Sunday’s semi final with a place in this year’s county final at stake for the victorious team, playing with the strong wind in the first half Sion opened promisingly with Alan Kirwan picking off the points, Abbeyside though kept in touch and were only two points behind at the break, the second half started as expected with abbey side using the conditions to launch balls at the Sion defence and though Sion kept in touch goals from Abbeyside ensured them the victory and a place in next week’s final against Ballygunner, tough luck to Jamie and the lads after all the hard work of the year ending in disappointment at the semi final stage again.
County Juvenile
We had a number of our young players representing Waterford at the weekend, well done to Jack Walsh and Alfie Ryan who were on the Tony Forristal/Sonny Walsh squad and to Tommy, Bradley and Jack who were part of the winning Michael Foley Under 16 tournament in Ferns.Junior C Hurling
Tough luck also to our Junior C team as they were unlucky in the final on Monday against Clonea, this team of young and not so young players did very well during the year and enjoyed the experience to keep playing hurling at this level.Minor Hurling
Our Minors concluded their campaign on Wednesday last as they bowed out at the semi final stage against Ballygunner, well done to this young team and their mentors as they went out and gave their all in every game in the campaign.Deise Draw
The third deise Draw of 2024 took place live on WLRFM on Friday last and unfortunately we weren’t among the winners this month, thanks to everyone who bought tickets and they can still be bought for the remaining draws from all the usual sources.Heatwave Festival
We’re in the Final Countdown to the Heatwave festival which takes place in the club grounds on September 7th, promises to be an amazing day, check out the poster for all the details.Cul Blues
