Under 16 (Semi-Final)
Pride of place this week must go to The Shercon Under 16s who are through to the County Final after a great win in what was a tight semi-final against Cappaquinn. Both sides drew level no more than 13 times during this match, with it ending up going to extra time with a last minute goal by Austin Gleeson securing a two points win and a place in the county final on Saturday week against Passage. In the first half Mount Sion had 10 bad wides but only trailed by 2 points at the break. A goal by Cathal Dower and a sideline by the last mentioned in the second half gave Mount Sion the lead for the first time in the game. Both teams traded points, and Cappaquinn went one up in injury time of normal time, however this Mount Sion side which were undefeated in the league section rallied back to draw level in the dying seconds to send the game to extra time. Score at Full time Mount Sion 1-10 to Cappaquinn 0-13.
From the throw in of the extra time Cappaquinn quickly took a two point lead, which was snuffed out by two converted frees from Aaron Coady and Cathal Dower. Again Cappaquinn drew level, with both sides edging in front and again the other side drawing level. With minutes remaining Mount Sion conceded two frees which were easily converted and gave Cappaquinn a one point lead. However Mount Sion showed great heart and determination when a long ball out of the Sion defence fell to the path of Austin, who gave the keeper no chance. Final score after extra time Cnoc Sion 2-14 to Cappaquinn 0-18. The county final is due to take place next Saturday 29th May, so listen out for details of the time and venue through-out the week.
Under 14
The Deise Decoration sponsored Under 14s played Passage in the third round of the under 14 championship in Mount Sion last Monday night. Mount Sion playing against the breeze in the first half opened the scoring from two points from play by Eric Hoban. Passage responded well and scored 2-4 in the remaining minutes of the opening half, with Mount Sion only registering one more point to go in at the break by 0-3 to 3-5 down.
From the start of the second half Mount Sion dominated play scoring 2-3 before Passage hit back with a goal. Further points from Cian O’Regan and Aidan Power and a goal from Dylan Sheridan left 2 between the sides. A last gasp attack on the Passage goal for the win never materialised and left two between the sides. Final score 3-8 to 4-6.

Our Junior Footballers played their first home game of the championship last Friday night with a draw with Ferrybank. It was a fair result with both sides sharing the play. Final score Cnoc Sion 0-10 to Ferrybank 1-7.
Senior League
The Senior hurlers were in action last Saturday evening against Passage in the 3rd round of the senior league. Both sides were without their county stars, however this didn’t take from the game. Mount Sion eased into the lead with points from Martin O’Neill, Ian Galgey and Anthony Kirwan. A goal from Ian Galgey gave Mount Sion an 11 point lead at half time of 1-11 to 0-3.
The second half was pretty much Passage with them scoring 3 goals through the half and reduced Sion’s lead to 3 points. Final score 1-18 to 3-9. Sargent Cup Semi-Final is down for decider on Wednesday next against Lismore at 7.30pm in Frahir Field.
