Mount Sion Gaa Club Notes
John Keane Tournament
The Under 7, 8, and 9s all participated for the prestigious John Keane Cup last Saturday morning. We were blessed with some fine weather this week after training being postponed the last few Saturday’s due to the bad weather. As normal the teams were divided up into the four provinces of Ireland. The semi-final stages saw Munster and Connaught emerge victorious in the Cup final with Leinster and Ulster battling it out for the shield.
The first half of the Cup final was tight, with the teams only separated by a point at half time. Playing down the hill in the second half had its benefits for Munster, as they took control of the game and finished six points up. In the Shield final Ulster paved an early path to take the title. Also this year we ran blitzes for the Under 4/5/6s and 11/12/13s on the same morning. Well done to all those who took part, we hope to see you all training again next week.
Condolences
The club would like to offer its sincere condolences to the family of Margaret Butler (Doyle Street) who passed to her eternal reward during the week. Margaret is grandmother to three of our young talented hurlers, Evan & Dylan Sheridan and Kaelin Wall. Son, Stephen Butler also played junior hurling for the club and son in law Ciaran Sheridan is one of our club photographers.
We also had another loss in the club with John O’Keeffe’s grandmother, Margaret O’Keeffe, who passed away during the week. John is one of our dedicated coaches involved with our Under 15s who reached the Eastern Final last week.
We extend our condolences to both families at this hard time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh siad.
