One of the Mount Sion CBS 6th Class boys has made it to the last 75 of the doodle4google competition. That’s out of 2500 entries. He’s the only Primary School pupil in Waterford to reach this stage. The winner will be decided by public vote. His doodle is called ‘A World without Sadness’ Will you vote for him on http://www.google.com/intl/ALL_ie/doodle4google/vote.html#d=d3-6 . His name is Yuriy Eliyashevskyy, and he could win a €5,000 scholarship fund and a Chromebook for himself and €10,000 for the school. Thanks to all those who already voted.Under 8 Football
The Under 8s took part in the football blitz last Saturday morning against Gaultir and Ferrybank. They played well and the panel for the morning was: Davin Marshall, Lee Flanagan, Jack Cowman, Cormac Dunphy, Conor Walsh, James Lambert, Tommy Walsh, Ross Byrne, Adam Regan, Jared O’Keeffe, Cian Tierney and Dillon Ryan. Also a big well done to James Dunphy who remained unbeaten for the day! Well done to all.Radio Quiz
We ran the WLRfm Radio Quiz last Thursday night in aid of the Waterford Training Fund. It was a great night and after nine rounds we couldn’t separate two teams. Áine & Jim Murphy and Stephen Greene on one team and Kenny & Paul Stafford and Pat Kelly on the other. Best of luck to those representing us in the County Final on Thursday 28th Feb in Lawlor’s Hotel. Thanks to all those who supported the night.Condolences
The club would like to offer its sincere condolences to the family of Paddy Flavin and the Fenor GAA club on the recent death of the loyal supporter of the Deise. A native of rural club Fenor, Paddy also had a keen interest in the progress of Mount Sion down through the years. A former winner of the Jack Furlong award and a true Deise supporter who will be missed by all that knew him.
Also the death of John Quinlan occurred recently. John came from the famous Cork club Glen Rovers in 1956. He went on to win five Senior Hurling County medals and two Senior Football with Mount Sion. He played with Waterford at Junior Hurling and Football level. Our thoughts are with both families at this time.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh Siad.
