Mount Sion GAA Club Notes

Eastern Draws

The draws for the Eastern Intermediate and Junior Championships were made during the week and there was plenty of familiar opposition for both teams ,Gerry Kennedy Crash Repairs Inter Hurling Group A Draw: Ballygunner, Mount Sion, Clonea, Dunhill, Ferrybank and Erins Own,
Junior Football Championship: 9 Teams 1 group. Ballyduff, Ferrybank, Mount Sion, Roanmore, St. Paul’s, Bunmahon, De La Salle, Kill, Portlaw,
Junior Hurling B Championship Group A: Erins Own, Dunhill, Mount Sion, Clonea, Passage, Portlaw and De La Salle ,times and dates of games to be confirmed at a later date.

National Hurling League

Waterford begin their defence of the National Hurling League on Sunday next with the visit of All Ireland Champions Kilkenny to Walsh Park at 2pm, best wishes to all involved and don’t forget after the game there will be music in the club from 5 to 7.

Under 8 Football

Our Under 8’s had a great time out in the Ballygunner blitz on Saturday morning last where they played against St Saviours and Gaultier, the boys really enjoyed their games and the blitz continues this coming Saturday 16th February.

Gerry Glanville RIP

Condolences to the Glanville family Cork Road on the passing of long time club member and supporter of Mount Sion and Waterford hurling Gerry after a short illness in U.H.W. on Sunday last. To his wife Eily, sons Joe and Gerard we offer our sincerest sympathy. Ar dheis De go raibh se.

New Darts League

There is a new darts league starting this February in the club, the format will be weekly games running over the course of a few months with a finals night later in the year. There will be cash prizes involved and also money going towards the juvenile club, if anyone is interested or wants further information please contact Kenny Stafford. Closing date for entry is 10th February.

Child Welfare Course

There is a child welfare course for club coaches and those interested in coaching taking place in the club on Wed 10th at 6.30. All coaches not yet certified in this regard required to attend, for any enquiries please contact Child Welfare Officer Eoin Fanning.

Tesco Tokens

The Tesco Tokens promotion continues in Tesco Ardkeen this week and thanks everyone who put their tokens in the box, this is a great fundraiser for the club so we would ask as many of our members to do their shopping out there if possible and spread the word to all your family and friends if they’re out there shopping to put their tokens in the box to help raise much needed funds for the club.

Last Man Standing

Last Man Standing  returned this week and already we’ve lost a good few players due to the unpredictability of this year’s Premier league!  Best of luck to all our players and don’t forget to check the page on the website to see who’s left !.Last Man standing

Mount Sion Clubhouse

Our club house is the perfect venue for your needs, if you have a family event coming up we can cater for all size parties from small private events to large gatherings, we have a spacious function room with private bar available for hire for all occasions including Birthdays, Christenings, Weddings, Confirmations, Communions, etc, please contact our Bar Manager Michael Ryan for more information on 051-372648 or call up and see him

For a post match drink or chat or to watch the latest sporting event on the big screen we have all the Sports channels available in our spacious bar where on Thursday nights it’s Darts night with our new league starting up soon and on Fridays we have cards which are open to all and there are great prizes on offer, check out our website for more info and photos.
