Mount Sion GAA Club Notes
Senior League
Cnoc Sion 1-07
Passage 0-09
The first game of the Senior league took place in the club on Saturday last and conditions were testing for both teams as they tried to deal with high winds as they swept down the main pitch making it hard to get any sort of fluidity going, Passage played with the wind for the first half and the long puck outs put the Sion defence under pressure as they tried to build up the points before the break but a Mount Sion goal just before half time put the hosts ahead by the minimum at the break, the second half saw more of the same with scores increasingly hard to come by as conditions worsened but Sion used their advantage and ran out winners by a point in a low scoring game, final score Mount Sion 1-07 Passage 0-09, next up is Ballygunner in the same venue next Saturday.Cheque Presentations
There were two cheque presentations made to our friends in Assissi House the other night both proceeds from events run by and supported club members and their families, first up the Galgey family presented a whopping €4,700 from their annual Billy Galgey Christmas day swim and then the Operation Transformation team presented €1000 collected from the weeks of walking as part of our Healthy Club project, well done to everyone involved with both initiatives and we are delighted that our neighbours in Assissi House were able to benefit from the generosity.GAA Coronavirus Policy
In respect of measures to help ensure that the Covid-19 outbreak can be contained the GAA has been asked by the HSE to follow all of their guidelines and recommendations regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, anyone with queries regarding COVID-19 should follow the recommendations of the HSE whose detailed website can be found at HSE in line with HSE guidelines please note it is advised to avoid handshakes before and after all games.
